Trump, NATO leaders in Turkiye’s Ankara as defence tops summit agenda

 Turkiye’s President Erdogan says he hopes the US will agree to sell F-35 jets, as US President Donald Trump says he is considering it.

Leaders from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) military alliance are due to meet in Turkiye’s capital, Ankara.

Defence spending and support for Ukraine’s military needs are expected to top the summit’s agenda.

Several leaders have unveiled arms deals worth tens of billions of dollars as they seek to show that they are answering US President Donald Trump’s calls ⁠to boost defence spending.
